VideoVis™

Systems Integration Corp. (SIC) developed the VideoVis product specifically for our customers needs.  The system allows efficient and humane visits between visitors and the incarcerated.  Through scheduling and management, the system efficiently provides visits between the video visitation center where the public have access and the incarcerated where supervision can be kept to a minimum.

Video Visitation significantly reduces the amount of labor required to monitor and supervise the visitation process.

Development

The development of this product included going through the process of how existing visits are managed within a facility.  This coupled with the integration requirements for scheduling through facilities Jail management systems provided the basic needs of the system.  SIC has a long record of working on real time data acquisition and control systems so designing a system to keep up with the many visits a facility has simultaneously, while coordinating all transactions with other systems was second nature.

The software platform utilized in the development was C# code with a .NET 3.5 framework.  This allowed the team to use Microsoft's newest Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) system for the client and server applications.

As we have developed the product we have insured the capabilities for the systems to be expanded to include several other components such as

• VideoVis™ Arraignment - for court use,  reducing costs for transportation of defendants
• VideoVis™ Public Defender - allowing secure video visitation for the public defenders office to perform defendant interviews.
• VideoVis™ Advertiser - allows advertisements to be displayed between visits for services targeted to the inmates and visitors
• VideoVis™ Connect - enables the interconnection of visiting systems throughout a region or department so individuals who normally can not travel to a facility in another town for visitation can perform visits at a more local facility.

Visitation of the incarcerated can be a hard thing, having a system that makes it easy and provides safe easy access is the best way.
